The annual ranking of the beach has been largely maintained as “Good” since 2002, and was changed to "Fair" in 2015, 2016 and 2019. During a bathing season, the beach mostly achieves Grade 1, while occasionally it fluctuates to Grade 2.
Beach water quality will be affected by the surface run off or discharge from the hinterland during and after heavy rain and bathers are advised not to swim at the beach for up to three days after a storm or heavy rain.   The public are also advised not to swim at the beach until the water quality has improved.
