Clear Water Bay Second Beach has good water quality. The annual ranking of the beach has been maintained as “Good” since 2010, except being ranked as “Fair” in 2016, largely due to the combined effects of heavy rainfall and fewer bright sunshine hours in that year. During a bathing season, it mostly achieves a weekly rating of Grade 1, while sometimes it hovers to Grade 2.
Beach water quality will be affected by the surface run off or discharge from the hinterland during and after heavy rain and bathers are advised not to swim at the beach for up to three days after a storm or heavy rain. The public are also advised not to swim at the beach until the water quality has improved.
